Far-right MP’s request for immunity against Dourou, Kanelli to be lifted turned down
Parliament’s ethics committee on Tuesday turned down a request by Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris for the immunity of two fellow lawmakers, Liana Kanelli of the Communist Party (KKE) and Rena Dourou of SYRIZA, to be lifted.
Kasidiaris claimed he was the victim of an unprovoked attack during a television debate on June 7 last year shortly before the national elections.
An argument between Kasidiaris, Kanelli and Dourou led to the far-right MP throwing water at the SYRIZA deputy and slapping the KKE lawmaker.
In February, Parliament ruled that Kasidiaris could be tried in connection to the incident.
