Teenage Paros rape victim to receive specialist treatment in US

A 15-year-old girl who has been in critical condition since she was raped and beaten last year is to be transferred to the US for treatment at the expense of the state, it emerged on Tuesday.

On the instructions of Health Minister Andreas Lykourentzos, the head of the country’s main healthcare fund (EOPYY), Lefteris Papageorgopoulos, approved the expenses for the girl’s treatment at a specialist clinic, Skai reported, adding that preparations were being made for her transfer from the capital’s Evangelismos Hospital.

A 21-year-old Pakistani national has been detained in connection with the assault, which took place on the island of Paros.
