Apart from youngsters, most Greeks against idea of emigrating

More than 70 percent of Greeks would not like to emigrate, although the majority of those aged between 18 and 24 would like to leave the country, according to an opinion poll carried out for Athens University.

Overall, 72 percent of Greeks are against and 5.9 percent “probably” against the idea of becoming migrants. However, in the 18-24 age bracket, 52.6 percent said they would like to leave Greece.

Questioned about the presence of migrants and whether this makes it harder to find jobs, 21 percent of under-24s said it did, as did 37.9 percent of those aged 25-34. In older age groups this view is more widely held, taking the overall figure to 49.8 percent. The sample for the OpinionPoll survey was 1,011 people.
