Samos hospital running out of oxygen

An alarm signaling low oxygen supplies at the intensive-care unit of the Samos general hospital forced staff to manually help the unit’s three patients to breathe using bag valve masks for 45 minutes on Friday.

According to hospital sources oxygen supplies were expected to last until Saturday afternoon.

Reports have suggested that the company supplying the gas quoted higher prices than the ministry’s recommendations, resulting in a delay in the provision of oxygen.
