Athens police hold two cash card scam suspects
A 42-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of withdrawing more than 1 million euros from various ATMs in Athens using bogus cash cards.
Police said on Tuesday that the suspects were caught in the southern Athens neighborhood of Kallithea last week after having withdrawn 1,900 euros from a cash machine.
Police believe that the two suspects withdrew 1.1 million euros during the previous month using 14 Maestro cards that were registered to a bank in the Caribbean.
