Financial crimes squad officers face bribery charges

Three Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) officers arrested earlier this week on suspicion of asking for and accepting a bribe were remanded in custody in Thessaloniki on Friday.

The three men – aged 37, 55 and 60 – are alleged to have extracted a 25,000-euro payment from a local businessman so he would avoid a 100,000-euro fine.

The suspects, who all work at SDOE’s Central Macedonia office, denied the accusations.
