Teachers’ union takes legal action against government
The Federation of Secondary Schoolteachers (OLME) has taken legal action against the government over its plans to put educators in a mobility scheme under which they are to be put on reduced wages for several months before their transfer or dismissal.
In a statement published over the weekend, the federation said it had filed a lawsuit against Education Minister Constantinos Arvanitopoulos, general secretary Thanasis Kyriazis and general director Evdokia Kardamitsi over their decision “to implement legislation about teachers’ mobility before it has been voted in Parliament.”
