No layoffs in health sector, says minister
There will be no layoffs in the health sector according to Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis. Speaking on Skai on Wednesday, Georgiadis noted that the only health sector employees facing dismissal were those who had used forged documents to get hired in the first place.
On Wednesday, doctors and nursing staff at local public hospitals and health centers were holding a 24-hour strike in protest to the government’s mobility scheme affecting 2,500 health workers.
On the issue of certain hospitals changing mission, the Health Minister noted that the government was not planning to close down health centers spread across Greece.
Georgiadis also noted that the health ministry had no pending issues vis a vis the country’s lenders, known as the troika.
