Prints in abandoned house matched to Trikala Prison fugitives
Police on Wednesday confirmed that fingerprints found in an abandoned house in Ano Zalongo, northwestern Greece, belong to Trikala Prison fugitives Ilir Koupa and Marian Kola.
Kola was killed on Sunday in a shootout with police on the Greek-Albanian border.
Koupa is still at large, and is believed to be hiding in the mountains of northwestern Greece while trying to make his way back to his homeland of Albania.
Locals told investigators that Koupa is well acquainted with the region as he had worked there for three years as a shepherd in the past.
A large-scale manhunt has been under way since Sunday for Koupa.
