Major police operation underway to smash international human trafficking ring [Update]
Ten people were arrested in Athens on Thursday morning as part of an operation to smash an international gang smuggling people to Greece and Spain from Turkey.
Reports said Greek authorities were working with colleagues from Spain, the USA, Europol and Interpol to arrest members of the ring.
The gang is believed to be smuggling women from the Dominican Republic into Europe, where they are forced into employment as sex workers.
Greek police were due to make arrests in Kavala, Corinth, Volos and Crete, as well as Athens.
