Suspect arrested in Zakynthos had been sentenced to 23-years in prison
Police on the Ionian island of Zakynthos arrested a Greek and a foreign national on Saturday after officers discovered weapons and cash in their possession.
According to reports, the Greek national had been convicted by a Patra criminal court to 23 years behind bars for a string of criminal acts, including bank robbery, but had failed to appear in court for sentencing.
A third suspect, for whom an arrest warrant was issued two years ago, was also being sought by the island’s police.
