Suspected foul play in death of elderly man in Tripoli

A coroner is due to confirm whether an elderly man found dead in his home in Tripoli in the Peloponnese was the victim of foul play, local media reported on Tuesday.

Police found the body of the 82-year-old man after his son reported to his local precinct that he had not seen him in two days. Responding officers forced their way into his home, where they found the elderly man dead on his bed with a bed sheet wrapped around his throat.

The house appeared to have been ransacked, leading investigators to believe that the 82-year-old may have been killed in the course of a robbery.
