Restis questioned about 10-million-euro loan
Shipowner Victor Restis remained in custody on Friday after being questioned by a magistrate in connection to a second, 10-million-euro loan, which was allegedly taken out to help his group of companies.
Restis argued that the loan, taken from First Business Bank (FBB), where he was chairman, was secured against his house and was being repaid normally.
Magistrate Rea Katsiveli decided not to remand Restis over that particular loan but he was sent back to custody due to another case involving a bank loan.
Last week, Restis denied he was the recipient of a 5.8-million-euro loan granted last year by FBB.
The 45-year-old businessman said that the money ended up in the account of an associate, who is being sought by authorities.
