Mitsotakis confident Greece will meet civil service target by September
Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is convinced Greece will meet its target of placing 12,500 civil servants in a mobility scheme by the end of September.
Speaking to Mega TV on Monday, Mitsotakis said the government was on course to meet the goal set with the troika.
“The truth is that the ministries have lived up to the commitment they made to the prime minister and we have formed a clear timeline about how we will keep to one of our main pledges to have 12,500 people in the scheme by the end of September,” he said.
Mitsotakis said 4,200 civil servants were placed in the mobility program by the end of July. They will be joined by 3,000 municipal police officers, leaving the government with more than 5,000 civil servants to find over the next few weeks.
The minister said that the government would also hire between 5,000 and 10,000 new staff this year, mainly for the healthcare sector, insurance funds, tax collection and the new public broadcaster.
