Two arrests, police officer suspended after nightclub defies 48-hour shutdown
Two Halkidiki nightclub employees have been arrested and a police precinct chief suspended after the establishment refused to follow a Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) order to remain closed for 48 hours due to tax violations.
SDOE ordered the nightclub in Kallithea to remain closed over the weekend after an inspection revealed a series of offenses.
But the establishment, where popular Greek singer Panos Kiamos is performing at the moment, remained open for business on Saturday.
The manager and the owner’s daughter were arrested, while the head of the local police precinct was suspended for not taking any action to prevent the nightclub from opening.
The owner is being sought by authorities.
