Greek Communist Party confirms sale of 902 radio and TV station

The Communist Party (KKE) said on Tuesday it was left with no other choice than to sell its TV and radio station, known as 902, thereby confirming earlier reports.

KKE said it had been driven to the decision to sell the broadcaster, which employs almost 50 people, due to financial difficulties.

The sale includes equipment and vehicles that belonged to 902.

“Under today’s conditions, it was not possible to secure the necessary funding to keep the station operating,” KKE said in a statement.

News of the sale prompted SYRIZA MP Dimitris Papadimoulis to ask for more details as KKE did not reveal to whom it sold the broadcaster or for how much.

Papadimoulis asked the Communist Party to confirm or deny rumors that the broadcaster had been purchased by the owner of Extra TV channel.
