Man detained for Varibombi arson
Police late on Tuesday night detained a 60-year-old man who was stopped while driving on the sidestreet of the Athens-Lamia highway near Varibombi, northern Athens, where a fire destroyed several hectares of forestland on Mount Parnitha as well as a residence.
The man is being questioned in connection to the fire, which began late on Monday night, after flammable liquid and lighters were found in his car, which was circulating without license plates.
