A 43-year-old unnamed suspect was being questioned by police on Wednesday after the discovery late on Tuesday of the body of a man who had been beaten to death in Nafpaktos, north of the Peloponnese.
The body of the 50-year-old victim yielded evidence of multiple injuries to the face and skull. It was found lying on Gribovo Beach.
The arrest was made several hours later with the cooperation of the Nafpaktos and Patra coast guard, and police from Mesolonghi and Evpalio.
The suspect will face a prosecutor for the region of Aetolokarnania, where he will have to respond to aggravated manslaughter charges.
Authorities did not release any information regarding the circumstances that may have led to the man’s death.
