Moderate Amfikleia tremor rattles Athens
A moderate tremor measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale was reported in Amfikleia in the Fthiotida region northwest of Athens on Wednesday, the National Geodynamic Institute reported. An earlier report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center had suggested the magnitude was 5.1 Richter.
The quake, which occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers at 12.06 noon, was also briefly felt in Athens.
The epicenter of the quake was 9 kilometers northeast of Amfikleia and it followed a smaller tremor just minutes earlier at the same location.
There were no reports of injuries or damage.
