Chios restaurant fined for tax code violations
Greece’s Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) temporarily closed a restaurant on the eastern Aegean island of Chios following an on-site audit.
A team of inspectors visited the premises at the island’s port capital early on Thursday morning. A 48-hour closure order and a 5,000 euro fine were issued against the owner of the restaurant for tax code violations.
On Tuesday, a team of SDOE inspectors was heckled by locals at a village in Crete and coerced to leave, before a one-month closure order was issued against the owner of a taverna where the team was intimated.
