Firefighters resumed the battle against wildfires on Andros and near the town of Pyrgos in the Peloponnese on Monday morning.

The blazes broke out on Sunday. More than 60 firefighters and volunteers tackled the fire on Andros in the area of Ano Pitrofos.

More than 100 firefighters and two water dropping airplanes and a helicopter were involved in the attempt to extinguish the blaze in the area of Klindia, near Pyrgos.
