Fires burn as three held on arson charges
Firefighters battled blazes across the country over the weekend, including a large one on the northern Aegean island of Thassos, while arson suspects were detained in connection with other fires.
A 56-year-old man was detained on Saturday in connection with a blaze that broke out on Friday in Katsimidi, near Mount Parnitha. Another two suspects were arrested for fires in Politeia, north of Athens, on the eastern Aegean island of Chios and on the Ionian island of Cephalonia.
