Fire on Thassos destroys 500 hectares pine trees and shrubs

A wildfire on the island of Thassos in the northern Aegean has been extinguished after destroying 500 hectares of pine trees and shrubs since it broke out on Friday, fire officials said on Monday.

Authorities said fire crews remain on alert during the current hot, dry conditions.
