Lightning sparks wildfire on Mount Olympus
Firefighters were on Tuesday battling a wildfire caused by lightning on Mount Olympus, northern Greece, although their efforts were hampered by the location of the blaze on the northern slope of the Enipeas gorge, which is difficult to access on foot.
The fire crews were aided by a water-dropping helicopter until nightfall.
Also on Tuesday, firemen managed to contain a blaze that broke out near Megalopoli in the Peloponnese, along with five firefighting PZL aircraft and a helicopter.
The blaze did not threaten the national power plant in the area.
