Corinth pensioner burned by burglars succumbs to injuries
A 74-year-old pensioner who was hospitalized with serious burns on Monday after burglars broke into his home in Corinth, west of Athens, and set him alight, died of his injuries on Wednesday.
According to the account given to police by the elderly victim, who had mobility problems, four men burst into his home in Asprokambos, near Corinth, and doused him with petrol when he refused to tell them where he kept his cash.
One of the robbers then set him alight, forcing him to speak, and then fled with his accomplices with an estimated 4,000 euros.
