Officer suspended after being arrested in semi-undressed state

A 35-year-old police officer who was arrested on Thursday on charges of unprovoked verbal abuse in the old port of Hania, Crete, was suspended on Friday, on the orders of the chief of the Greek Police, Nikolaos Papayiannopoulos.

According to a report released by the Hania Traffic Police, the officer, who had been serving in an Attica police department, was in a state of semi-undress when he was arrested in the Cretan city’s Eleftherios Venizelos Square.
