Homeowner dies after raid in Artemida

A 85-year-old man who died following an armed robbery at his house in Artemida, southeastern Attica, early Friday appears to have suffered a heart attack, authorities said.

The man and his 74-year-old wife were awoken by the two robbers at around 3.30 a.m. when they entered the house through an open window.

The 85-year-old was sleeping in a different room to his wife as he suffered health problems and was connected to a respirator.

The woman was tied up by the robbers and only found out her husband had died after neighbors heard her cries and came to the house. The robbers made off with cash and jewelry.
