Court hold up appeal of Alter TV workers seeking unpaid wages

An Athens court of first instance Friday upheld an appeal by 206 former employees of the defunct private television channel Alter for the company to be declared bankrupt so that its assets can be seized and sold off and their unpaid salaries disbursed.

The company, which in June 2011 had applied for protection from its creditors, is expected to appeal the decision.

If the employees’ appeal is not reversed, Alter’s old license will revert to the state and may be issued for tender.
