Skai to sue Independent Greeks leader for ‘moral instigator’ claims

Skai television and reporter Aris Portosalte are planning to take legal action against the leader of the right-wing Independent Greeks party, Panos Kammenos, following the latter’s claims that Portosalte was the «moral instigator» of an assault on the party leader on Wednesday in Amfiali, close to where the leftist rapper, Pavlos Fyssas, was killed late on Tuesday by a member of the ultra-right Golden Dawn.

Kammenos made the statement immediately after the attack by protesters which led to him suffering a nosebleed.

A close aide of Kammenos said on Thursday that the Independent Greeks’ chief was the only political leader who dared to go to the anti-fascist rally in Amfiali, adding that Kammenos was subjected to an «unprovoked assault by extremists from the far left and far right.

In a statement on Thursday, Kammenos attributed the murder of the 34-year-old leftist to «people who want to destabilize the country.»
