Larco protesters clash with police on Athens-Lamia highway

More than 20 people were injured on Friday when police clashed with protesters from the Larco mining firm near the village of Martino on the Athens-Lamia national highway.

The workers, who are protesting the state-run firm’s likely privatization, attempted to block the road but were repelled by tear gas used by riot police.

Seven people were detained but later released.

A total of 23 people suffered injuries.
