Roupakias held at police HQ as security concerns prevent transfer to jail

The Golden Dawn member who murdered rapper Pavlos Fyssas, Giorgos Roupakias, remains in custody at police headquarters in Athens until a decision is taken about which prison to move him to while he awaits trial.

The warden at maximum security Korydallos Prison refused to allow Roupakias to be transferred there due to concerns about a reaction from other inmates.

The prosecutor’s office has yet to decide where to transfer Roupakias to because of concern about his safety.
