Police yesterday arrested a woman artist believed to have robbed middle-aged men by responding to their lonely-hearts advertisements, giving them sweets spiked with hypnotic substances and then stealing from their homes. The woman had been the focus of a long search. A popular police reality show, Mega Channel’s «Eyewitness,» had presented a dramatic reconstruction of her alleged activities. Georgia Alexandri, who was described by police in Aghia Paraskevi, Athens, as a 54-year-old artist, was identified by at least eight of her alleged victims. Officers confiscated 24 Vulbegal and 26 Lexotanil sleeping pills in her possession. Items stolen from her victims were recovered. Alexandri would allegedly read personal ads in the Chrysi Efkairia newspaper and set up meetings with lonely men. Using an alias, she would visit them in their homes, offering them the spiked sweets.
