Three people arrested near Golden Dawn offices in eastern Attica

Three people aged 29, 40 and 43 were taken into custody for questioning late on Saturday near the offices of neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn in Artemida in eastern Attica after several suspect items were found in their car.

According to authorities – who have been keeping a close eye on Golden Dawn’s offices around Greece as part of an unprecedented crackdown on the party following the murder by a member earlier this month of anti-fascist activist and singer Pavlos Fyssas that has led to the arrest of top echelons including the party leader, Nikos Michaloliakos – the three suspects were stopped shortly before midnight near Golden Dawn’s Artemida offices.

A search of the vehicle in which they were traveling uncovered nine crash helmets, 70 wooden poles some of which bore flags, 11 shields and a retractable metal club.

The suspects are being questioned to ascertain whether they have any links to the party and whether the items they were carrying had come from the party’s offices.
