Serbian fugitive arrested in Patra

A 39-year-old Serbian national, who has been on the run since June 2011, when he escaped from a Swiss jail where he had been in pretrial custody, was arrested at the western port of Patra, where he tried to board a ferry to Italy, coast guard officials said Wednesday.

The unnamed Serb, who faces trial for robbery, rape and forgery, was caught during a passport check in Patra, when officials determined that he was wanted on an international arrest warrant.
