Only 2013 law on illegal buildings applies following court ruling
Homeowners who took advantage of a 2011 law to semi-legalize homes built without proper permits will have to apply under the provisions of legislation passed this year, the Environment Ministry said Wednesday.
The move comes after the Council of State ruled on Friday that the 2011 law was unconstitutional.
The transfer of homeowners’ paperwork is expected to be straightforward but each application will require a new application fee of between 15 and 100 euros.
The payment of a penalty to protect the property from further fines or demolition will continue as normal.
