Hundreds of officers testify in police investigation into GD

Hundreds of officers have testified as part of an internal affairs investigation being carried out by the Greek Police in a bid to trace links between ultra-right Golden Dawn and the force, Skai understands.

More than 300 police officers have testified while 40 have been temporarily detained as suspects in the ongoing probe.

Of the 40 officers questioned, nine have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation including officers in Piraeus, close to the spot where a 34-year-old hip-hop artist was fatally stabbed last month by a self-confessed Golden Dawn supporter, and in the run-down central Athens district of Aghios Panteleimonas where support for the ultra-right party is high, largely due to a large local immigrant population.
