Second case of rabies prompts authorities to take action
Following the second confirmed case of rabies in a fox in northern Greece, authorities in the Central Macedonia Region on Friday said that they will be air-dropping bait containing vaccines for the lethal disease from October 11-13 in parts of the region that are especially vulnerable and have livestock farms. Authorities also warned residents and farmers in the area to vaccinate their pets against rabies, and especially herding dogs, which are often let loose on the mountains.
They requested that all suspicious animal deaths be immediately reported to local veterinary authorities.
