Journalist Vaxevanis to go on trial again over publication of Lagarde list
Costas Vaxevanis, the journalist who published the names of depositors on the so-called Lagarde list, is due to go on trial again on Tuesday.
Vaxevanis was cleared last year of breaching privacy laws by revealing in his Hot Doc magazine the names of 2,059 people who had deposited money in the Geneva branch of HSBC.
However, the public prosecutor demanded a retrial. Vaxevanis argues he was acting in the public interest.
Former Finance Minister Giorgos Papaconstantinou faces prosecution for allegedly doctoring the list to remove the names of his relatives. He denies the allegations.
