Athens tax office head arrested over bribe-taking

The department head at a tax office in Athens has been arrested on suspicion of accepting a bribe.

Police had been notified that the 61-year-old had asked for 2,300 euros in cash from a company that was expecting a return from tax authorities.

The woman was arrested in her office on Wednesday after receiving the alleged bribe in marked banknotes.

As a Finance Ministry employee, she faces felony charges over the incident.
