Parliament committee calls head of SDOE for update on Lagarde list

Parliament’s ethics committee decided on Thursday to summon the head of the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE), Stelios Stasinopoulos, to brief MPs on the progress of an ongoing investigation into the so-called Lagarde list of more than 2,000 wealthy Greek depositors.

Greek authorities were first given the list by their French counterparts in the fall of 2010 to help crack down on tax evasion but little was done and Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras obtained a new copy toward the end of last year.

The committee also decided to summon the head of the National Intelligence Service (EYP), Thanassis Dravillas, in the wake of media reports that leftist SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras claimed he and other leftist lawmakers had had their telephone conversations wiretapped.
