After transfers, 1,600 healthcare workers to return to sector

More than 1,600 healthcare workers removed from their positions as part of the civil service mobility scheme are due to return to the sector in other positions next week.

Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis said he received a list with all the healthcare employees involved and the positions that they will fill as of next week. Faced with resistance to the transfers last month, Georgiadis insisted that no workers would lose their jobs.

The transfers coincided with the closure of eight hospitals in Thessaloniki and Athens, which are only being used for outpatient treatment. The minister said that so far no problems had been recorded at the remaining hospitals as a result of this move.
