Man threatening to jump in front of train arrested, as rescue teams seek second person seen falling of bridge

An unidentified foreign national who threatened to jump off a bridge into the path of trains on the Proastiakos suburban electrical railway in Pallini, northeast of Athens, was taken into custody on Thursday after his suicide attempt was thwarted.

According to reports, police arrested the man for obstructing public transportation as he had spent several hours atop the bridge threatening to jump during rush hour.

Separately, rescue teams were on Thursday looking for a man who was seen falling from the Rio-Antirio suspension bridge in western Greece on CCTV footage. It was not clear whether the fall was a suicide attempt or an accident. The incident occurred shortly after 8 a.m.
