Three arrested for human trafficking
Three suspected human traffickers were arrested and 41 undocumented migrants detained after a car and a truck were stopped as they headed from Athens to Patra.
The migrants, including a 5-year-old child and a 2-month-old baby, were found in the truck. They were from Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia and Palestine. Two of the suspected traffickers were Iraqi, the other Palestinian.
Police said they were part of a ring that helped migrants reach other European Union countries, mainly Italy, for a fee of 1,500 to 3,000 euros per person.
