CAT scanner breakdown puts lives at risk, warns Athens Medical Association

Patients’ lives are in danger because the last working CAT scan machine at Evangelismos Hospital in central Athens has broken down, the Athens Medical Association (ISA) said on Tuesday.

ISA called on the Health Ministry to fix the scanner, which has been out of order since October 25.

Doctors have had to refer patients needing scans to other hospitals.

The union asked the ministry to find out why the machine had been allowed to break down and to investigate staff shortages.

“Human lives are in immediate danger because of these oversights,” said ISA.
