Government pledges to speed up pension processing
The government is taking steps to ensure the faster processing and granting of pensions, Alternate Finance Minister Christos Staikouras has pledged.
In a statement released by his office on Friday, Staikouras said that the average time needed to process a pension request has already been reduced from nearly a year in the summer of 2012 to an average of four-to-five months.
The aim is to reduce the waiting period even further, he said. “Efforts are yielding fruit. Results are tangible, and they are reflected in people’s everyday lives,” the statement said.
