ND deputy reveals reason behind censure motion absence
New Democracy MP Nikitas Kaklamanis has revealed the reason behind his absence at last Sunday’s censure motion which saw the coalition government maintain its majority in Parliament with 154 deputies.
A former Athens Mayor and health minister, Kaklamanis used his Facebook profile page to communicate that in the last 20 days he underwent surgery to remove a malignant tumor.
Noting the importance of early detection, Kaklamanis also thanked medical staff working at the Evangelismos and Aretaieion public hospitals and highlighted the high quality services they provided despite facing “enormous shortages.”
Kaklamanis said that following surgery he was probably “healthier than ever.”
