Prosecutor appointed to handle suit against police by SYRIZA, Independent Greeks MPs
Supreme Court prosecutor Efterpi Koutzamani on Thursday ordered Athens Court of First Instance prosecutor Panayiota Fakou to handle a legal suit brought by four deputies of leftist SYRIZA and Independent Greeks lawmaker Rachil Makri against the police for failing to avert a crush outside the headquarters of former state broadcaster ERT last Saturday.
SYRIZA MPs Zoe Constantopoulou, Dimitris Stratoulis, Panayiotis Kouroublis and Vassilis Hatzilambrou filed the action, along with Makri, after claiming to have been crushed against the building’s main gate and accused the police of acting “outside of the constitutional framework.”
