Petty crime is a concern
Petty crime that affects people’s daily lives and has a direct effect on the sense of security has been on the rise lately. Is there any plan to deal with it more effectively? Greece is one of the safest countries in Europe, with one of the lowest crime rates in the EU. This can be seen from the basic crime indicators. But we are by no means resting easy. It is true that in recent years there has been a rise in petty crime, as in all European countries. Of course it concerns us, as it creates a climate of insecurity that does not correspond to the true dimensions of the phenomenon. The police are fighting crime by implementing a modern policy, with actions focused on the characteristics of local society. These include foot patrols, groups focused on both preventing and fighting crime, and the neighborhood police officer.
