Second meeting between troika, Stournaras scheduled for Wednesday
Troika officials were expected to return to the Finance Ministry in central Athens on Wednesday afternoon, following a first meeting with Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras earlier in the day.
On Tuesday the rift between the country’s lenders and the Greek government remained wide and it appeared inevitable that the draft budget for 2014 would be submitted in Parliament on Thursday with no agreement, given that the troika officials were scheduled to leave Athens en route to a Eurogroup summit taking place in Brussels on Friday.
A senior Finance Ministry official who had remarked Tuesday that the odds of an agreement between the two sides stood at “50-50,” on Wednesday noted that the figure had reached “60-40.”
