TV host, former publisher arrested over debts

Television show host and former publisher and radio producer Petros Kostopoulos was arrested on Tuesday morning and is expected to face a magistrate later in the day to respond to charges pertaining to overdue debts to the state.

The popular TV host turned himself in to authorities in central Athens early on Monday after several warrants were reportedly issued for his arrest over debts accrued by his former publishing company, Imako.

The size of the company’s alleged debt was not made public, though it is reported by local media to include tax arrears and unpaid social security contributions for the company’s employees.

Kostopoulos had filed for bankruptcy in September.
